Originally from the south-eastern state of São Paulo, Brazil, in 2023 Laura moved over 2,000 km across the country to begin her career in government. She has since made Recife and the state of Pernambuco her home, working in the city's municipal Planning Cabinet on violence prevention, food security, and public health, with a focus on making cross-sector policies more integrated, participatory, and responsive to local needs. After graduating in International Relations from the London School of Economics in 2021, Laura worked as a fundraiser in Oxford, where she first dreamed of studying the Master of Public Policy. For Laura, the MPP is not only a dream come true but a crucial step in her journey as a policymaker. With particular interest in intersectoral approaches to climate resilience and food systems policies, Laura aims to help shape solutions that address complex challenges and deliver lasting impact for communities.
