biography

Kodai is originally from Osaka and moved to Tokyo at 18 to study International Politics at the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law. While at university, he interned for a Member of the House of Councillors and led a project to form a partnership between the university football club and Wacker Innsbruck, a professional team in Austria.
From 2023, Kodai worked at the Oceania Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, advancing Free and Open Indo-Pacific. He contributed to key diplomatic events including Japan Australia 2plus2 Ministerial Consultations and the visit by the Prime Minister of New Zealand to Japan. These experiences strengthened his belief in the need for visionary leadership that can shape and implement grand strategy for the 21st century. HIs ambition is to make difference in leadership role. His main interests are in foreign, security, innovation policy and sustainable social welfare in light of Japan’s demographic challenges. Kodai is an avid football fan, both playing and watching. Kodai is a Japanese Government Program scholar.
