Kate is from Newburyport, Massachusetts, USA. She recently completed an MSc in Criminology and Criminal Justice at Oxford University, where she examined media depictions of domestic violence victims who committed homicides. Kate graduated from the University of Alabama Summa Cum Laude in May 2025 where she studied history and criminal justice with a legal history concentration. While there, she interned with Turning Point Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Services. In this role, Kate supported individuals through a crisis line and developing safety plans. She was a recipient of the 2023-2025 Obama-Chesky Voyager Scholarship. Through this scholarship, she spent the summer 2024 interning with the Association of Autonomous Austrian Women’s Shelters. Kate is interested in advocating for victims of domestic violence, especially children, and rethinking ways of supporting the unique needs of individuals.
