Juan is journalist with seven years of experience in different Colombian and international media. He was born and raised in Bucaramanga, a city located in the northeast of the country, and moved to the capital Bogotá to study law at Universidad del Rosario. At the end of his fourth year in law school, Juan began his career in the media, which has given him the opportunity to work for Semana magazine, Caracol Radio, Cambio and El País de España.

In 2023, Juan, together with his partner and friend José Báez, investigated a multimillion-dollar corruption scheme at the state oil company Ecopetrol. Their journalistic work, which led government entities to take concrete actions, was awarded the Simón Bolívar Prize.
