John is from Birmingham, Alabama, a recent graduate of the University of Alabama where he studied history with a concentration on law and legal studies and political science with a dual minor in social innovation and leadership, and sales. During his time at University, John worked in the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. District Court System, and the Alabama Policy Institute.

His policy interests include exploring law’s relation to politics, understanding the growing crisis of rural America, and examining constituent relations of government officials. Other interests include issues such as individual freedom, religious liberty, and market economics. Although John's policy focus is largely focused on the United States, he looks forward to learning from his peers' and professors' perspectives on global policy.

John is an Eisenhower Global scholar.
