Johannes is a political advisor at the German development agency, GIZ, where he contributes to the implementation of the Data4Policy initiative. With an academic background in economics and data science, Johannes specialised in supporting governments in integrating data into their decision-making for the benefit of society as a whole.

Previously, Johannes worked in the Executive Office of the UN Secretary-General, where he managed the implementation of a UN-wide human rights initiative, contributed to pandemic response efforts and led the data analysis workstream of the Secretary-General's visionary 'Our Common Agenda' report.
