Joanah is a legislator in the Zimbabwean Parliament, serving a second term (2023-2028) under the Citizens Coalition for Change Party (CCC). In the 9th Parliament (2018-2023), she was the youngest Member of Parliament at age 25. Joanah chairs the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Environment, Climate, Wildlife and Tourism. With a background in molecular biology, her research at the University of Sussex focused on gene-based therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.

Joanah is an executive board member of the UN World Youth Group, an executive committee member of AWLN Zimbabwe Chapter and a council member of NALAFEM. In 2023, she was selected as an Amujae Leader under the Initiative led by President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf; in 2020, Joanah received the One Young World Politician Award. Her political foundation is rooted in the students movement, where she served as a dedicated student leader in ZINASU. 

Joanah's policy interests include human rights, climate change and environmental conservation.
