Jia is a practitioner of peacebuilding and international development with extensive experience in special education for high-risk youth integration in fragile communities. A graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, Jia has worked with disadvantaged young people in several countries, including the US and China. With a particular focus on the Middle East, Jia founded a charity school in Syria for children facing risks of drug addiction, gang violence, and radicalisation. He was a Rotary Peace Fellow (Class XVIII) with a master’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University. As a strong advocate for the power of new technology to improve peacebuilding work, Jia looks to enhance his capacity to leverage multi-sectorial and non-traditional resources for global peacebuilding by way of his studies on the Master of Public Policy.
Jia is a Kwok Scholar and an Oxford-Weidenfeld-Hoffman Scholar.
