Jessica Tan is currently President of Sun Life Canada financial services company. Jessica previously served on the PingAn Group Board of Directors, as well as being Group co-CEO - overseeing 10 companies in the Group’s insurance, healthcare and technology businesses across the financial services conglomerate (including banking and asset management). In Ms Tan’s time at Ping An, the Group increased its customer base by 3 times to 230 million, and increased its profits by 5 times to US$20 billion. In addition, Ping An made major strides in technology and innovation, with over 49,000 invention patents applications globally, ranking 1st in both FinTech and HealthTech globally for 5 consecutive years.
Ms Tan also served as a member of several global government advisory committees, including the World Bank Private Sector Investment Lab, United Nations Sustainable Investments, Institute of International Finance (IIF) global board of directors, Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), as well as the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Since 2019, Ms Tan has been ranked amongst Fortune’s top 5 Most Powerful Women for 5 consecutive years, and Forbes’ The World’s 100 Most Powerful Women.
Before joining Ping An, Ms Tan served as a global partner at McKinsey & Company in the USA and Asia. She graduated with a GPA 5.0/5.0 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science, as well as two Bachelor’s degrees in Electrical Engineering and Economics. Ms Tan is Singaporean, married and has two daughters. She is native-fluent in English and Chinese, speaks Cantonese and has been learning conversational Korean. She has been actively involved in healthcare and retirement services in China over the past 7 years, and is currently on 3 Singapore non-profit boards (healthcare, elderly home/community care, and Singapore CPF/pensions fund).
