biography

James Pople Hoskins is a public policy professional from London, specialising in the financial sector. 

For the past six years, James has worked at the Bank of England, more recently as a manager in the secretariat supporting the Bank's Deputy Governor for Financial Stability in his role as Chair of the international standard setter for payments and market infrastructures (the CPMI).

In this role, James supported the G20 roadmap to enhance cross-border payments, as well as helped to develop effective international standards and principles for digital payments like global stablecoins and central bank digital currencies.

In other roles James has worked on the financial stability risks arising from a disorderly Brexit, the resolvability assessment framework, financial stability risks from climate change and communicating post-crisis reforms.

James studied Engineering at Durham University as an undergraduate and completed the CFA accreditation while at the Bank. James is a Duke of Cambridge Scholar.
