biography
John (Jack) has worked for various Conservative MPs, Ministers and Opposition MPs for the past six years in the UK Parliament, focusing on a variety of policy areas including water, rail and education. From his time working for the Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister during the pandemic, he has broad interest in the reform of Whitehall and accountability in Government. Most recently, he worked for the Shadow Chancellor, and he is enthusiastic to learn more about economic decision-making in Government. Although he took economics as an A-level, his humanities degree and academic preferences have left room for development in this space. Jack is a UK/US dual citizen, his mother's family are from Upstate NY and his father is from Hertfordshire. He lives in Telford, a place badly let down by the state in recent years, in two national scandals concerning antenatal care and grooming gangs. Jack is a keen football and baseball player, and looks forward to pursuing both here at Oxford.
