I am a civil servant by profession. I belong to the Pakistan Administrative Service – the service whose officers have traditionally risen to top policymaking positions in Pakistan. I have a Master's degree in Political Economy of Development from SOAS, UK. I have served as Deputy Commissioner in a district and Commissioner of Region – positions where one implements the policies of the government in various sectors including health, education, infrastructure, transport, and municipal services etc. My most recent assignment was Secretary to Chief Minister of Punjab, a province which has a population of nearly 100 million and contributes approximately 58 % to Pakistan's GDP.
