Hyungwook began his public service career as a deputy director at the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF) of the Korean government, focusing on shaping economic and industrial policies, fostering venture and new industry development, and managing national budgets for COVID-19 response, National Pension Service and housing funds. In his recent role as a staff to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of MOEF, he assisted with high-level dialogues, including G20 and summit meetings and facilitate coordination with the National Assembly. 

Hyungwook has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Seoul National University.
