Housam is a Syrian humanitarian and development practitioner with over 13 years’ experience connecting programme leadership with strategic advisory work across Syria’s humanitarian response. He has helped shape sectoral strategies, policies, technical frameworks and collective approaches to displacement and recovery, while leading major interventions in complex settings across emergency response, shelter, food security, livelihoods, economic recovery, education and area-based recovery. He holds a master’s in migration studies and a batchelor’s in business administration, and studied law and political science. Having experienced displacement and return, he sees policy as enabling secure, dignified and fulfilling lives. Housam’s interests centre on human security, institutional reform and inclusive development in fragile and conflict-affected settings, including how innovation, entrepreneurship and youth participation can expand opportunity, strengthen resilience and support recovery.
