Hee Sung is from South Korea and has for the past 13 years worked with the UN's impact investment agency, the United Nations Capital Development Fund, working alongside the Governments of Nepal, Uganda, Malaysia, and the Pacific Small Island Developing States to support businesses to serve customers who did not have access to essential services such as finance, electricity, and telecommunications. She has led the incubation of sustainable blue ventures through two ground-breaking sustainable blue economy initiatives between the UN Presence in the Pacific and the Government of Fiji.
Having served as a UN diplomat using finance to 'enhance freedoms' Hee Sung believes that good governance is integral to sustainable finance truly serving the people. She looks forward to using her time at Oxford to connect project-level experiences to a policy-level, systems-wide thinking about the sustainable finance industry and understanding how to design people-centered governance frameworks to mainstream sustainable finance.
