Hanan is the Head of Careers and Professional Development, leading a team of professional staff who support students to reflect upon and progress towards their career aspirations after their degree.

Hanan has had a varied international career, including with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Sudan and, most recently, in Baghdad, Iraq, immediately post-Isis. Just before joining the School, she worked for Oxford-based Asylum Welcome, managing their programme of support to Afghan refugee families who were evacuated after the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021. Prior to moving to Oxford, Hanan lived in South Africa where she founded and ran a social enterprise generating livelihoods with people living with HIV/AIDS. She designed jewellery and homeware products made from recycled magazines which were handmade by women working in the social enterprise, and was featured in international fashion magazines such as Elle Décor and Vogue Living. Products were sold internationally, including in the museum shops of the Pompidou Centre and the Louvre Museum in Paris. Hanan has 25 years of experience in personal development training through the More to Life programme.
