biography

Fumie is a government official at Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT), and has engaged for over six years across a wide range of policy areas, including housing, budgeting, and overseas infrastructure. She contributed to reforms of Japan’s vacant house policy (aimed at addressing the increasing number of abandoned homes) and the development of housing safety nets for vulnerable populations.

Her key policy interests include sustainable urban planning and housing policy. Through her study at the School, she hopes to enhance her skills in designing policies to address Japan’s pressing social issues, such as its declining and aging population, and contribute to public well-being. Fumie holds a BA in Economics from Keio University.
