Famin is from a Bangladeshi family but was born and raised in Australia. After finishing her law degree, Famin worked as an Associate to an Australian High Court Justice before working as a corporate lawyer. Having little interest in corporate law long-term, Famin was lucky to be placed in a full time pro bono lawyer role in the firm, which she has been focusing in for just over two years. In that role, Famin innovated ways for the corporate law firm to channel its resources into addressing key social issues, including domestic violence.
Famin runs a social enterprise project where she sews and sells hats, donating the proceeds to a community legal centre that provides free legal advice to women escaping domestic violence. Her key policy interest is domestic violence.
Famin is a John Monash scholar.
