Originally from New Zealand, Fabian has lived in the UK for the past 21 years. He began his professional life as an actor, but transitioned to public service via a short career as a teacher. After completing a degree in South Asian studies at SOAS, he joined the UK Civil Service Fast Stream graduate programme in 2018. After working for several government departments, Fabian joined the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) in 2020. Following different roles in trade and economic policy, including developing post-Brexit era trade policy for the UK and its arrangements with developing countries, he completed a 3-year diplomatic posting in Pakistan. By joining the 2026/27 MPP cohort, he hopes to expand his academic skillset, develop his leadership capabilities, find space to think about the global issues confronting policymakers and reflect on his career. Fabian’s key policy interests are public sector reform, poverty eradication, foreign policy, international governance, education and youth employment.
