From Bangladesh, Esrat is a lawyer and development practitioner with over six years of experience advancing gender justice. Her journey in the development sector began through youth-led community movements, which grounded her understanding of how laws and policies affect people’s everyday lives. With a background in law and early experience in legal research, Esrat learned to approach development interventions through both legal and community-based perspectives. Since then, she has worked extensively on preventing sexual and gender-based violence through legal and policy reform, advocacy, research, and stakeholder engagement. Esrat’s key policy interests include gender-responsive governance, justice-sector reform, and translating legal and policy reform into effective public action. She holds an LLB, graduating Magna Cum Laude, and LLM with a major in International Law from East West University, Bangladesh. Esrat is enrolled as an Advocate with the Bangladesh Bar Council.
