Emi from Tokyo, Japan, studied law at the University of Tokyo. During her studies, she spent six months at Peking University, where she developed a strong interest in China and international affairs. After graduation, she joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. She worked on Japan China relations and regional affairs in Tokyo before serving for two years as an Attaché at the Consulate General of Japan in Shanghai. Emi is particularly interested in economic security, geopolitics, and evidence-based policymaking. At the Blavatnik School of Government, she hopes to strengthen her policy analysis skills and deepen her understanding of how governments can develop effective policies in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment.
