biography

Eileen recently graduated from the University of Richmond, in Virginia, USA, where she studied leadership studies and journalism. During her studies Eileen worked as a research assistant analysing recent policy and politics in Richmond, and founded the City and State section of her school newspaper. Eileen examined policy issues in various internship position including as a communications intern at The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, where she mainly worked on housing, healthcare, and federal fiscal policy issue. Eileen continued focusing on healthcare as an intern at Healthwatch Camden in London, and at Chalkbeat Chicago, Eileen reported on issues of inequality in the public education system.

Additionally, she covered governance at local levels as a freelance reporter at various news outlets. Eileen is especially interested in improving education and healthcare systems, economic inequality, and gender disparities. Her passion for these issues stem from her background growing up in rural America.

Eileen is a Jepson Scholar.
