biography

Edson Kondo is the Dean of the School of Public Policy, Government and Business at the Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV). An expert at the intersection of public policy, business, and sustainability, Dr Kondo holds an Industrial Engineering degree from the University of São Paulo, as well as an MPP and a PhD in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Dr Kondo holds several leadership and advisory positions, including President of the Advisory Board at the National Association of Undergraduate Management Programs in Brazil, President of the Accreditation Council at the Education Quality Assessment Agency (EQUAA), Founder and Chair of the Public Goods Olympiad in Brazil, and Co-founder and Board Member of the i9Sol Institute, an NGO providing solar panel micro-factory training to underserved and indigenous communities in the Amazon to foster economic autonomy.

Prior to his current role, Dr Kondo served as a Full Professor at the University of Tsukuba and as the chairman of the Postdoctoral Programme at the United Nations University. His extensive service record also includes terms as the President of the National Association of Undergraduate Management Programs in Brazil, President of the Staff Council of the United Nations in Japan, Board President of the American School in Brasília, and member of the Deliberative Board of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) in Brazil.

His primary research interests continue to focus on the synergy between innovation, public policy, and global sustainability.
