Devon is an physician and health policy expert from Vancouver, Canada. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of British Columbia, as well as the inaugural Area of Clinical Excellence in LGBTQ+ Health at the University of Toronto. His clinical work focuses on the care of LGBTQ+ populations in the Emergency Department, where he works to create a safer environment for marginalized groups seeking care.
Outside of his clinical work, Devon strives to improve the health of Canadians through scholarship and advocacy. He has previously served as president of the Resident Doctors of British Columbia and the Resident Doctors of Canada, where he focused on negotiating improvements to healthcare labour contracts and improving the quality of Canadian medical education. He is also a board member of the Canadian Doctors for Medicare, where he works to advance evidence-informed solutions to strengthen and transform publicly-funded healthcare delivery across the country. He is passionate about healthcare finance, health system reform, and the power of comparative data to inform policy solutions.
