Daisuke is a Project Assistant Professor at The University of Tokyo and direct its Economic Security and Policy Innovation Program. His DPhil research examines weaponised interdependence in critical mineral markets, focusing on economic coercion and resilience. Alongside his academic work, Daisuke advises ministers, sits on government councils, and holds advisory roles with the Japan Association of Corporate Executives, International House of Japan, Tokyo Electron, Suntory Holdings, Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu and the Quad Investors Network. He is a Senior Fellow at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute, Center for International Private Enterprise, and Center for a New American Security. Internationally, Daisuke is a David Rockefeller Fellow of the Trilateral Commission and a regular participant in major forums such as the Shangri La Dialogue and Munich Security Conference. His writing has appeared in Foreign Affairs and other publications, and he has received many awards for his academic and policy work.
