Cynthia is from Kenyan, born and raised in the agricultural villages in Trans-Nzoia County, popularly known as Kenya's food basket.
Driven by the urge to understand the land use management policies and practices Cynthia undertook an undergraduate in urban and regional planning from the University of Nairobi, to be able to revert and manage the land fragmentation and sub-division happening in her neighbourhood.
After graduation, Cynthia worked with several consultancies to develop policies for land management and land governance in counties. In 2020 Cynthia started her Masters in Sustainable Urban Development to further understand the impacts of urbanisation on land uses as well as economics and the politics of policy-making in land governance and management. She has developed policies for counties to reduce and mitigate the public land grabbing issues. Her policy interests are in land use & environmental management, food security and sustainable development.
