biography

After obtaining a degree in global business and finance at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Chi Fung Ng spent more than eight years working in the Administrative Service of the HKSAR Government.

There, he oversaw a wide range of policies from aviation security to university funding. In 2019, he was appointed as the first Deputy Director of the newly established Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok. Representing the HKSAR Government in south east Asia, Chi Fung was tasked to enhance the economic and cultural relations between Hong Kong and countries in the region.

Recognising the importance of big data and artificial intelligence in today's world and their applications in the private sector, he saw the potential to better utilise these resources in the design and implementation of public policies and took up further study in data science. Chi Fung looks forward to synergising knowledge in the two areas to tackle social problems with scientific and innovative approaches.

Chi Fung is a Kwok Scholar.
