Chethana is originally from Sri Lanka and pursuing a career in economic policy analysis. With a background in economics and a specialisation in public finance, Chethana served as an economist at the Interim Parliamentary Budget Office (IPBO) within the Committee of Public Finance at the Parliament of Sri Lanka. Her role involved conducting research and analysis on fiscal matters, including budget projections, economic forecasts, and policy recommendations. She focused on addressing economic challenges like tax reform, labour market policies, and sustainable development initiatives.
Chethana has contributed to projects such as establishing a regulatory body for casinos in Sri Lanka and advocating for policy changes to address VAT exemptions for software producers. These experiences have reinforced her commitment to promoting fiscal transparency and accountability for socio-economic progress.
