Camilo is an environmental engineer from Bogota, Colombia, holding a bachelor’s and a master’s from Universidad de Los Andes, where he graduated first in his class. Currently serving as Senior Specialist in Sustainable Technologies at South Pole, he has spearheaded major carbon portfolio developments, facilitated Article 6 implementation, and secured multimillion dollar investments in renewable energy and emission reductions. His background spans hands on community engagement with Indigenous groups, collaborating with government entities on climate regulations, and actively contributing to policy groups like IETA, YOUNGO, and GFLAC. Driven by a passion for environmental governance, Camilo’s key policy interests focus on carbon market design, climate finance mechanisms, transboundary environmental regulation, and advancing just transition frameworks across developing regions.
