biography

Cameron Thibos is Programme Manager of the Open Political Economy Analysis Programme, a joint initiative of the Centre for the Study of African Economies and the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford.

From 2014-2025, he was co-founder and managing editor of Beyond Trafficking and Slavery on openDemocracy. This project produced rigorous, plain English analysis of the political, economic and social root causes of global exploitation to help all stakeholders better understand forced labour and human trafficking. Prior posts also include consultant researcher at the University of Bath and research associate at the European University Institute in Florence, Italy. His primary expertise is in the political economies of labour and migration.

He was awarded a DPhil in international development from the University of Oxford in 2015.
