biography
Billy grew up in regional Tasmania, Australia, where his parents worked in community service and education. At age 18, he founded Affordable Tutoring Tasmania, which became the state's largest tutoring platform, and later launched Milestone Mentoring to support young people on the National Disability Insurance Scheme.
While studying economics, Billy gained experience in management consulting, economic advisory, and renewable energy, and served on several education and community boards. More recently, he completed an honours thesis on project-based learning as a way to deliver on the Australian Universities Accord's ambition to develop the soft skills young people need for the future of work. Over the past several years, Billy has represented Australia in sustainability, education, and diplomacy programmes in Southeast Asia, and interned with a leading public policy think tank. He is passionate about entrepreneurship, equity in education and the role of public policy in enabling opportunity. Billy is a Rhodes scholar.
