Ben researches online safety governance with a focus on age verification mandates and the technological architecture powering them. As a DPhil candidate and Marshall Scholar, he is particularly interested in how policy can steer assurance of human attributes in an AI-era Internet. He also serves as a Senior Research Associate at the Oxford Programme on Cyber and Technology Policy (OxCTP), developing work on children's online safety. Before coming to the UK, Ben worked on communications, strategy, and product across some of the world’s leading AI firms and founded Lighthouse, a prosocial platform for spontaneous reconnection. He holds a BS in Product Design from Stanford University as well as an MSc in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Trust from the University of Edinburgh, where he developed novel cryptographic schemes for age verification. Ben believes in combining public policy and emerging technology to weave a healthier web.
