Coming from a small village and grassroots background, Begim is one of the active leaders from Central Asia who empowers youth, women, and girls in global climate processes. She is the Regional Coordinator for RCOY Central Asia and Afghanistan, uniting youth for climate action. As the Country Contact Point for Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) at the UNFCCC and a member of the Official Representation of Children and Youth to the UNFCCC (YOUNGO) and the Central Asian Youth for Water Network, Begim is involved at multiple levels in climate processes. She was one of the regional coordinators of the UN Global and Regional Youth Conference and Movement on Climate Change (COY17 and RCOY Central Asia), and a delegate to global conferences, including Conference of the Parties 27 (COP27) in Sharm El Sheikh, the UN Water Conference (UNWC) in New York in 2023, COP28 in the UAE, IYCDP, COP29. In 2024, Begim became a laureate of the ‘Excellence in Youth Policy Award’ given by the Government. Begim is a Chevening scholar.
