biography

Aung was born in a remote town of the Ayeyarwady delta region where the Karen ethnic minority people resided. He worked as a journalist for four years to provide reliable information for the people who have been living in the dark age of journalism under the military dictatorship.

Aung joined the Myanmar Peace Center (MPC) where he was responsible for media outreach and the MPC’s daily newsletter and its monthly magazine. Aung worked for the USAID/Burma from 2016 and served as the Mission’s liaison with the domestic press and spearheads the Mission’s social media outreach and public communication efforts.

Aung graduated from Dagon University with a major in English literature and earned a postgraduate diploma in political science at Yangon University. He is particularly interested to learn about the humanitarian policies or security-related policies which could be applied to efforts in reducing the ongoing tensions and protecting people’s lives to a greater extent in Myanmar.
