Ander graduated from Boston University with degrees in political science and international relations, ranking in the top one percent of his class. Most recently, he served as a policy adviser at the Permanent Mission of Mexico to the UN, where he worked to strengthen international law and multilateral cooperation. Ander led Mexico's efforts to enhance the General Assembly's role in maintaining international peace and security, including by advancing initiatives towards a more effective and accountable Security Council, particularly in preventing mass atrocities. He also facilitated resolutions on global drug policy and the rights of persons with disabilities, helped negotiate the UN Cybercrime Convention, and was in charge of the AI file. Before the UN, he co-founded a digital civic platform to promote transparent primary elections in Mexico. At the Blavatnik School, Ander is eager to learn to translate international agreements into policies that strengthen democracy, the rule of law, and institutional accountability.
