Amanda Domingos is a postdoctoral research and policy associate for the Lemann Foundation Programme at the Blavatnik School of Government. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco (Recife, Brazil).
Her research focuses on the intersection of public policy, subnational and multilevel dynamics, and legislative studies, aiming to deepen our understanding of the conditions under which politics can drive collective outcomes in policy. Her primary region of interest is Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazilian municipalities.
Her doctoral thesis investigated how legislators’ strategies in delivering distributive politics can expand the beneficiary network, improving healthcare indicators in neighbouring areas of municipalities receiving targeted funding. Before joining the Blavatnik School, she was a postdoctoral researcher on the ACCESS Project, a German Ministry of Education-funded initiative at Europa-Universität Flensburg. Prior to that, she worked as a data analysis and community outreach consultant for the International Panel on the Information Environment (IPIE). Amanda is also a catalyst for the Berkeley Initiative for Transparency in the Social Sciences (BITSS) and a member of the Teaching Integrity in Empirical Research (TIER) Network, where she advocates for transparency tools and practices in social research.
Before receiving her PhD, she earned a master’s and a BA in Political Science from the Federal University of Pernambuco. During her doctoral studies, she was also a recognised student at the Latin American Centre at the University of Oxford.
