Amal graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor's of Arts in political science and leadership studies and a minor in health studies. She served as the student government president and completed internships with government entities like the Virginia Department of Health and the Virginia General Assembly. After taking classes on racism in lawmaking, social welfare policy, and public health, Amal found her passion for equitable health policy and decided to pursue research on redlining for her senior thesis, which is now published. Amal explored how redlining, a discriminatory housing practice in the United States, impacts local health outcomes in major U.S. cities. She also completed an honour's thesis in leadership studies exploring psychological motivations behind U.S. public opinion on US foreign policy with Israel since Oct. 7th. Amal is interested in how policymaking can advance a more just future for marginalised communities on local and global scales.
