Alan Pedro da Silva is the current president of the Centre of Excellence in Social Technologies (NEES) at the Federal University of Alagoas (UFAL), an esteemed organisation advocating for educational public policies, with a particular emphasis on Educational Equity, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the National Fund for Education Development (FNDE). NEES leads significant initiatives such as participation in the National Textbook Programme (PNLD), facilitating textbook distribution nationwide, and establishing the Blended Education Innovation Network (RIEH) in partnership with the Brazilian Ministry of Education.

Furthermore, NEES spearhead the Brazilian Observatory of Educational Equity, funded by the Ministry of Education, which provides leadership training, educational data analysis, and sharing best practices to promote educational equity nationwide. Another noteworthy initiative is the conception and implementation of a data governance policy in Brazil focusing on enhancing the quality and security of academic data and fostering collaboration among municipal, state, and federal educational networks.
