Adjoa was born and raised in Newham, East London, among the UK’s most ethnically diverse boroughs. After studying law at Warwick University, she specialised in leveraged and acquisition finance at leading global law firms, advising private equity sponsors, banks and multinationals on cross-border transactions across Europe, North America and Asia totalling over €2 billion. In 2026 Adjoa was elected as a Labour and Co-operative Councillor for West Ham in Newham. Political ambition without institutional capacity produces only promises, and Adjoa has seen this through her frontline Citizens Advice work, where policy on paper can look very different in people’s lives. Elected office has since shown her how much stands between political ambition and material change. Together, these experiences have brought her to her central focus: how ambitious governments can become effective instruments of change, aligning around root causes and mobilising public and private capital to deliver inclusive development and expand opportunity.
