Aayushma is from Nepal with an MSc in Economics for Development from the University of Oxford. Broadly, she is interested in understanding how labour markets, migration, and political institutions shape development outcomes and people’s opportunities. Over the past three years, she has supported research in collaboration with government bodies and political parties in Nepal, examining how party structures influence who gets a seat at the political table, particularly women in leadership, and how political representation affects public service delivery. Aayushma has also conducted research on remittances and international labour migration in Nepal. More recently, she has contributed to research in Ethiopia on urban unemployment, refugee integration, and active labour market policies. Aayushma hopes to continue exploring these themes through research that can inform development policy.
