Aathma is an advocate who graduated from Gujarat National Law University, India. After law school, she worked at the intersection of politics and policy, leading election strategy for political parties in Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, and Gujarat. Most recently, she worked at Project 39A, National Law University Delhi, where she provided pro-bono legal representation for individuals on death row, challenging both conviction and sentencing before the Supreme Court and various High Courts. She has driven end-to-end case management, from crafting litigation strategy and conducting meticulous legal research to managing client relationships and briefing Senior Counsels. Her work has led to two acquittals of death row convicts and multiple commutations. Guided by the conviction that justice must anchor public policy, Aathma is building a political career rooted in justice, with a focus on advancing women’s political leadership in Kerala. She is a Weidenfeld-Hoffmann Trust Scholar and a Chevening Scholar.
