We’re honoured to be hosting two prominent academics for the next few weeks: Professor Nannerl O. Keohane and Professor Robert O. Keohane will be at the Blavatnik School of Government as part of the Astor Visiting Lectureship. The Astor Visiting Lectureship is a fund from the University of Oxford that supports visits by distinguished academics from the United States.

Nannerl O. Keohane is a political philosopher who served as president of Wellesley College and Duke University. She has written about and taught courses in political theory, leadership and gender issues and most recently authored the book Thinking about Leadership (Princeton University Press, 2010).

Robert O. Keohane is Professor of Public and International Affairs at the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University. His recent work focuses on a variety of related topics, including multilateralism, climate change, and anti-Americanism.

They will spend rest of this term at the Blavatnik School, engaging with the activities of the School and with the students. In particular, Professor Nannerl O. Keohane will be hosting an informal weekly seminar on leadership for MPP students. Professor Robert O. Keohane’s first engagement with the School will be as a participant in our discussion panel “What’s in the News? The US Presidential race” with visiting fellow Bill Emmott and John Prideaux, US editor of The Economist.

In addition, each of them will deliver a public lecture, called the “Astor Visiting Lecture”, focusing on their field of expertise:

  • “Contested Multilateralism and World Order” (Monday 22 February, 5.15pm)
  • “Women as Leaders: What Will the Future Hold?” (Monday 14 March, 5.00pm)
