We are delighted to announce that Simon Wren-Lewis, Professor of Economic Policy at the Blavatnik School, has been awarded the New Statesman/SPERI Prize for Political Economy.
The prize, a joint initiative by the British political and cultural magazine New Statesman and the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) at the University of Sheffield, is given to the academic who “has succeeded most effectively in disseminating original and critical ideas in political economy to a wider public audience over the preceding two or three years.”
Professor Wren-Lewis was chosen because of his commitment to presenting his ideas in an accessible, challenging way. His blog Mainly Macro is widely read among UK and international policymakers and economists, and he is very active in the media with opinion pieces published in major outlets on the topics of Brexit, austerity, economic policy and more.
The prize carries an honorarium and an invitation to give a New Statesman/SPERI lecture in London on Tuesday 22 November.
