With the end of Trinity Term the MPP moves on to its final stage: most of our students are already on their Summer Project placement and we look forward to telling you more in the coming weeks.
The Hong Kong Officer Professional Development Programme also came to an end last week. Now in its second year, this professional programme is part of our Executive Education courses and gives young mid-level civil servants from the Hong Kong Government the opportunity to join the Blavatnik School of Government as visiting fellows.
During their term at Oxford, the ten Hong Kong Fellows attended a wide variety of courses including education policy, social policy and leadership. They also researched and developed in-depth case studies on the challenges that their government faces, and presented them to a panel of Blavatnik School faculty members for feedback.
A visit to London and the Houses of Parliament was the chance for them to develop a better understanding of how the UK government works, while living in Oxford meant they could make the most of the events and lectures organised by the Oxford University community as well as enjoying life in the city of the dreaming spires, as proved by the images provided for a photo competition we set at the start of their term. The winning image (below) is a beautiful view of Worcester College's quad by fellow Ronald Cheng.
Congratulations to all the Fellows for their work – we are sad to see them go, but we are sure they will return to the Hong Kong Civil Service enriched by this valuable experience.
