The Blavatnik School of Government is delighted to be amongst the winners of the Oxford Preservation Trust Awards 2016.
The awards, now in their 39th year, celebrate “keeping the best of the old and encouraging the best of the new”. When it comes to new buildings in Oxford, a city with a great architectural heritage, conservation goes hand in hand with innovation. This makes it particularly significant for us to be one of three new buildings recognised by the Trust, alongside Ardley Energy recovery facility and Rose Hill Community Centre.
Calum Miller, the School’s chief operating officer, said: “The Blavatnik School of Government is honoured to receive an Oxford Preservation Trust Award. We have faculty and students from all over the world, but our home is in Oxford. So it especially meaningful for the quality of our new building to be recognised by the guardian of Oxford’s built environment.”
The School building was one of the most popular attractions of Oxford Preservation Trust’s Open Doors weekend last September, and the public’s interest for the building encouraged us to open our doors more often. We will now hold an ‘Open Day’ once a term – with the next event scheduled for Saturday 28 January.
Registration for the event is not needed, and entry is free so we look forward to seeing as many people as possible there.
