With application deadlines for the MPP programme quickly approaching, the School is delighted to confirm that a number of opportunities for financial support will be available to students in 2014. The African Democratic Institute, BNY Mellon and the Lemann Foundation are new supporters of the School, and are contributing student support for this year's students.
It is great news for our future students that support for their studies has been growing, as more and more individuals and organisations recognise the great difference that their donations can make.
Manjit Nath is a current MPP student from India, who spent several years working in the Indian Government after first spending time with Microsoft Corporation in various technical roles. He says, “I come from a remote village in India, and I am coming to the Blavatnik School on full scholarship…I must admit that without the scholarship this Oxford dream could not have been fulfilled.” (Read Manjit’s blog about his first day at the School.)
All successful applicants to the MPP programme will be considered for financial assistance. The School is committed to ensuring that outstanding applicants from all backgrounds are able to attend, regardless of financial circumstances. The University of Oxford also recently announced the new Oxford Graduate Scholarships, supported by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), which aim to stimulate progression into taught postgraduate education in England. Over 100 full and partial Oxford Graduate Scholarships will be awarded for study in 2014. (You can find more details here: http://www.ox.ac.uk/feesandfunding/prospectivegrad/scholarships/university/ogs-hefce/)
A number of donors have pledged to continue their support for study in the future, and we are working to confirm these awards and eventually develop a full set of support for students through a mix of scholarships, bursaries and other funding opportunities.
We are delighted to work with our current supporters, and look forward to working with new donors, to maximise their investments in our students. Every gift can make an impact. We are extremely grateful to the following partners and donors for confirming their provision of financial awards and scholarships for the 2014-2015 MPP course:
- Andre Stern
- Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme
- Green Templeton College
- Lemann Foundation
- University College
- Walter Kwok
