Freshta Karim (MPP 2016) has been included in this year’s Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia list in the Social Entrepreneurs category. The list recognises the work of individuals leveraging business tools to solve regional issues.
Freshta is the founder of Charmaghz, an organisation that promotes critical thinking and education in Afghanistan, a country with 64% illiteracy rate.
Charmaghz grants local children access to books via a mobile library which travels through Kabul. Recently, the team converted another bus into a mobile cinema showing educational films. The collection provides services to about 200 children a day.

Carlos Santiago Guzmán Gutiérrez, an alumnus of the Master of Public Policy and the MSc in Public Policy Research, has received the inaugural Michael Cichon Graduate Award for outstanding master’s thesis in Social Protection. The award recognises his MSc thesis, “Universal Social Protection Schemes in Forced Displacement Settings: Evidence from Colombia.”
