Serene Singh (MPP 2019) was crowned 2020–21 National All-American Miss, representing her home state of Colorado. Serene is a committed advocate for women and girls; she is a former intern for Michelle Obama’s Global Girls Alliance and the founder of The Serenity Project, a non-profit organisation helping at-risk women in the US to build confidence and connect with influential female mentors. She intends to user platform as National All-American Miss to amplify her community service work, reaching thousands of women and girls across the US and creating a positive impact that will last beyond her year as titleholder.

Carlos Santiago Guzmán Gutiérrez, an alumnus of the Master of Public Policy and the MSc in Public Policy Research, has received the inaugural Michael Cichon Graduate Award for outstanding master’s thesis in Social Protection. The award recognises his MSc thesis, “Universal Social Protection Schemes in Forced Displacement Settings: Evidence from Colombia.”
