Join leading experts in international law and human rights Judge Theodor Meron, Professor Marko Milanovic and the Blavatnik School’s Professor Philippa Webb KC and Visiting Professor of Practice Amal Clooney for a discussion on the future of international legal institutions.

As global conflicts reach levels not seen since World War II, international justice is in retreat. The panel will discuss whether the international legal system created 80 years ago – including the United Nations and international courts - can and should survive, and if not, what should replace it.

Judge Theodor Meron is a leading scholar of international humanitarian law, human rights, and international criminal law. He served as President of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) and the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals. He is a Visiting Professor with the University of Oxford’s Faculty of Law and a member of Trinity College.

Professor Marko Milanovic is Professor of Public International Law at the University of Reading and currently the Raoul Wallenberg Visiting Chair in Human Rights and Humanitarian Law at Lund University. He is co-general editor of the ongoing Tallinn Manual 3.0 project on the application of international law in cyberspace.

This event will be followed by a coffee and tea reception.
