Lecture Theatre, Blavatnik School of Government
We are seeing a raft of new financial regulations, many aimed at preventing another financial crisis and others at reducing money laundering. Yet all too often, regulation fails or has unintended effects, for instance when anti-money laundering standards lead to financial exclusion in developing countries.
In this GEG seminar we bring together three experts to discuss how to craft effective financial regulation so that it has its desired impact while minimizing unintended (negative) consequences:
- Sir John Vickers, Warden of All Souls College and Chair of the Independent Commission on Banking (2010-2011)
- John Armour, Hogan Lovells Professor of Law and Finance, University of Oxford
- Dr Zakhele Hlophe, Global Leaders Fellow, University of Oxford
